You can easily switch from one language to another if you have documents in different languages. It is equally possible to adjust the volume and the speed of the reading voice.

Control sequences can be inserted into a document at any place. These control sequences allow you to change the speed or volume of parts of a text. This way, certain text fragments can be read out more rapidly than others. You can also insert pauses in a text.

Dictionaries enable you to have words read out differently than the program would normally do.

The pronunciation dictionary makes it possible to correct the few pronunciation mistakes the text-to-speech software makes.

The replacement dictionary can be very useful to have DocReader read out abbreviations as full words. In practice, this means that the abbreviation 'DA' can be read as 'district attorney' or the initials 'JS' as 'John Smith'. People who use DocReader as a communication aid typically use the replacement dictionary to speak common phrases by typing short abbreviations (e.g. "hayt" = "hello, how are you doing today?")
